Weekend Roundup Oct 25-27: The Highs and Lows of Football and Formula one.

With Barcelona having a comfortable win over Real Madrid, the last weekend of October produced some of the best moments in major sports events  around the globe this month with Top athletes yet again performing to their best of abilities. This post is going to cover key sports events from the past weekend highlighting what made them memorable.

Robert Lewandowski produced an exceptional performance with two goals to his name on Saturday night. Raphina and Yamal completed the scoresheet to finalize a 4-0 win which helped their side defeat a Real Madrid team filled with superstars. This el classico match was the most anticipated in recent times featuring new names like Kylian Mbappe and Hansi Flick.

The game had Lucas Vasquez and Rudiger ending the match with injuries. The tempers were so high amongst a section of Real Madrid fans who racially targeted Lamine Yamal, LaLiga and Real Madrid have officially come out to condemn the action and forward it to the relevant authorities but did not mention which players were actually racially abused

In the premier league, Liverpool and Arsenal played a 2 all draw. Bukayo Saka was the first to get on the scoresheet but Van Dijk equalized for Liverpool from corner kick delivered by Alexander Arnold. With a few minutes left in the first half, Merino was able to give Arsenal the lead once again although MoSalah scored a goal to equalize the score for Liverpool. The result ensured mancity remain on the top of the league, one point a head of Liverpool and Arsenal in third position with 18 points.

Manchester united lost to Westham United by 2 goals to one, a result that cost Eric Ten Hag his job. The Manchester United board made the decision a day after the loss which left Manchester united sitting 14th on the table with 0ne win in the last 5 premier league games and just 7 points above the relegation zone after nine games

In Formula one, the Mexican Grand Prix ended with Lando Norris cutting Max Verstapen lead to 47 points. Ferrari had all their drivers on the podium, Carlos Sainz had a comfortable win finishing first and Charles Leclerc finished third. Norris finished second but he labelled his fellow driver Verstappen “dangerous” for his driving antics. Max Verstappen finished the race 6th despite being penalized twice during the race . Maclaren are still first on the constructor’s table but Ferrari are just 25 points behind and Redbull are only 29 points
