Swangz Avenue in Zanzibar for creative retreat

Uganda’s premier music label Swangz Avenue has flown out of the country and gone to
Zanzibar for what they have called a creative retreat aimed at facilitating the making of the
Swangz All-Star Album.

The group made the announcement on Wednesday via its social media
platforms, posting;” Today, our artists, producers, and writers are headed to Zanzibar for a
week-long creative retreat to begin recording the Swangz All-Star Album. We are thrilled to have
Uganda Airlines as our partner for this exciting project.
We’re also delighted to have NRG Radio join us in camp to keep you updated on all the ongoing
activities. Stay tuned to our socials for updates as we add more guests to the creative camp.
This album will feature some of Uganda’s most talented acts. #SwangzAllStarAlbum”
Swangz Avenue is home to some of the most reknown local artistes, boasting established stars
Azawi,Winnie Nwagi,Vinka and Elijah Kitaka,as well as budding songstress Zafaran as part of
its current roster.

The label previously announced that it had a collaborative All Star album featuring several
currently unnamed major acts slated for release in October and this retreat to the island nation
is a significant development to that end.

Started in 2008 by Benon Mugumbya of the Benon & Vamposs fame, the label famously outed a
couple of major collaborative projects in the late 2000s,partnering with the likes of Goodlyfe
Crew,GNL Zamba,Raba Daba and other stars of that era to make Mr.DJ and Locomotive, which
ruled the airwaves then and still draw adulation to this day.
This history means that fans of Ugandan music will be excited to hear the latest offerings of the
Industrial Area based outfit . Article by Timmy Tune.
