The groups through which countries will qualify for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations
have been drawn in Johannesburg.There are twelve groups of four teams each, with the
winners and runners up making it to the Finals slated for December 2025 in Morocco.
Group A consists of Tunisia,Madagascar,Comoros and Gambia,while Group B will have host
nation Morocco,which is already qualified,facing off with Gabon,C.A.R and Lesotho.
Group C is made up of the Record Champions of this tournament Egypt,along with Cape
Verde,Mauritania and Botswana.Beaten finalists of the previous edition Nigeria will fancy
themselves to top Group D,with their opponents being Benin,Libya and resurgent Rwanda,who
incidentally remain top of the same World Cup Qualification group that the Super Eagles are
bottom of.
Riyadh Mahrez’s Algeria will also hope to return to their previously dominant ways in a Group E
containing Equatorial Guinea,Togo and Liberia,while Ghana,Angola,Sudan and Niger will tussle
it out in Group F.
Group G will have Defending Champions Ivory Coast do battle with Zambia,Sierra Leone and
Chad,as West Africa’s Guinea plan for trips to the Eastern part of the continent to take on
D.R.C,Tanzania and Ethiopia in Group H.
Mali,Mozambique,Guinea-Bissau and Eswatini will contest Group I,and scandal-embroiled
Cameroon will want to advance in a Group J completed by Namibia,Kenya and Zimbabwe.
Group K will contain South Africa,Uganda,Congo and South Sudan,with the draw close-ended
by Group L,comprised of Senegal,Burkina Faso,Malawi and Burundi.
The opening fixtures of this qualification campaign shall take place in September of this year.
