Mun G and Joshua Baraka leave no crumbs on “All To Me”.

This song is actually the second collaboration between Mun G and Joshua Baraka in a matter of months. The two also worked together on the …release “Nayomi”.

Now I felt “Nayomi” was a nice song, but found Mun G’s verses underwhelming. There was little of the trademark comedic phrasing Mun G came to popularize and be known for. Yet it is in that exaggerated silliness that his genius shines brightest. Especially on songs that are meant to be light.

The whole story of the song

He seemed to be trying so hard to prove his mettle as a pure rapper. And by the way, for the record, the man is hella underrated on that front. GNL Zamba wasn’t mistaken when he signed him to Baboon Forest. But “Nayomi” just wasn’t the song for him to bring out that side.

So while I thought Baraka was phenomenal(an SOP now). I just could not get over how awkward Mun G’s verse felt. And as a general rule, a duet is only as good as both artistes’ effort.

There can be no such complaints about “All To Me”. Mun G is in his element, declaring “Long story short my plug is really worried”, because apparently the baby girl gives him heights so good he doesn’t need any other substances. Cheesy, yes, but also funny as hell. And that is Mun G’s bread and butter.

“Shower me with your love rain on me nga confetti” is another stand out. Especially when you remember that the same artiste once said “Typical Nyarwanda nne swimsuit najigula”. This Mun G fella is very mischievous.

Baraka impresses(again,an SOP now). He spends the first verse announcing his possession of a PHD in love, which makes him the ideal candidate for the vacancy in her heart. He raises the level even higher on the bridge as he yearns “Late in the night/And early in the morning/Swim in your ocean don’t care if I am drowning”.

It is clear that these two have more in common than humongous amounts of talent. Maybe that is actually why they seem to be on the same creative wavelength. To use parlance popular with the kids these days, These guys ate and left no crumbs.
